Don’t Save the Best for Last

Don't Save The Best For LastI’ve been working on a lot of different projects over the last few years. It has been quite a whirlwind adventure. I have got to do a lot of work-related travel, venturing to more than 20 cities all over the country. I’ve been invited to speak before some pretty amazing groups. I’ve even been able to meet some of the people I look up to as role models like Fr. Greg Boyle from Homeboy Industries.

All of this has been really exciting but it is time to move on to the next adventure.

I read this quote somewhere.

IF YOU’RE NOT WORKING ON YOUR BEST IDEA, YOU’RE WASTING YOUR TIME

So I googled it and here is what I came up with. Steve Erry has some really great stuff on his blog. In this post, he talks a lot about all the great ideas we have and what we are doing with them. He talks about the need to breathe life into them so we don’t stagnate. I am especially fond of this quote.

Breathe life into them, otherwise you’re simply accumulating a lifetime’s worth of potentially extraordinary ideas in preference for treading water and doing what’s easy or expected.

So yeah, that’s what I’m doing now. Breathing life into some of those new, great ideas. What if they aren’t extraordinary? Well, I guess I learn from the process and move on to the next. The best part about this is that I am living my dream, right now, without asking permission from anyone. I get to define my life, on my terms and no one else gets to tell me no.

Is this way of life scary? Hell yeah it is! But what is more scary, saving all of those potentially extraordinary dreams and ideas until later… whenever that occurs? Not me dammit. I’m living here and now and working on my best idea now. Don’t save the best for last. Keep reading with me here to see how it turns out.
